Hospitalizations have also declined dramatically since the second-wave peak of 3,884 on Dec. 1 last year to 694 as of Thursday. In Southeast Michigan, 363 were hospitalized with COVID-19. The state announced earlier this week it had distributed 2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, which is likely having an impact on the coronavirus' trajectory. A 30 percent increase in doses is expected in March. The state is expected receive a 409,240 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for next week, breaking a previous high of 388,000 doses allocated to it by the federal government in mid-January.
