You have permission to edit this article.Wausau (WAOW) -- Two Wausau residents are recognized for saving a life on New Year's Eve.The Wausau Police Department gave Andrew Silva and Emilee Rohmeyer Certificates of Commendation at the Wausau City Council meeting Tuesday night.Police say Silva and Rohmeyer were crossing the Thomas Street Bridge in Wausau when they saw a 14-year-old who looked like they were going to jump.Silva immediately took action, stopping his car and talking to the teenager while Rohmeyer got the car out of the road.Police say when they talked to the teen, they learned the person was going to jump. The teen had thrown a backpack onto the ice before Silva and Rohmeyer showed up."Our community is fortunate to have people like Andrew Silva and Emilee Rohmeyer in our midst," the Wausau Police Dept. said on Facebook. "Thanks to Andrew and Emilee, a young person saw that people here in Wausau care about others and are willing to step up to help.
