You have permission to edit this article.MADISON (WKOW) -- As Texas continues its recovery from winter weather, climate experts say there is evidence that cold air outbreaks could be a result of climate change.Jack Williams, geography and Center for Climatic Research professor at UW-Madison says Texas needs to adjust its approach to icy weather, but the state is not alone. He says Wisconsin should focus on its own environmental dangers: rainfall and floods.He says he expects more of these different kinds of extreme events."What we're basically doing is adding heat energy to the Earth's system, and we're making the, you know, the atmosphere now has more energy in it than it had say 50 years ago," Williams said.He says a warmer world is a more energetic world and steps need to be taken to increase resilience to climate change events."We're not going to see new kinds of weather that we haven't seen before. But, they'll be stronger, more intense, more frequent," Williams said.
