That trend is a leading requirement for reopening the economy.Testing data is another key for those who are tracking the disease — the state lab can now test as many as 7,000 people a week, but “that’s well below what we’re testing currently,” Zink said.She said new state guidelines will allow anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 to be tested.“Our goal is to test as many people as possible,” she said.She also urged Alaskans to keep track of their movements, so that if they do test positive, disease trackers can possibly figure out where their exposure came from and more easily determine how to isolate potential new cases.Alaska’s Energy Desk editor Julia O’Malley contributed to this story.This story has been updated.Original story — Ryan Cunningham, KTOOGov. One new case was in Palmer, and the other was in Chugiak.
