Seymour first responders were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash where a vehicle had gone off the road and into the nearby water.Connie Crowell, the driver, and her 22-year-old son, John Crowell, drowned, Rinaldi said.More News“After a lengthy investigation by the Seymour Police Detective Division, (it) has been determined that this incident was a homicide/suicide,” Rinaldi said. “The investigation revealed Connie Crowell intentionally drove her vehicle into Lake (H)ousatonic.”Rinaldi said a boater in the area who saw the crash, tried to help rescue Crowell and her son.“The boater made numerous attempts to rescue the occupants of the vehicle,” Rinaldi said. “However, Connie Crowell refused to acknowledge or accept the boater’s assistance and rescue efforts.”Anyone age 18 and over in need of mental health services can call 1-800-HOPE-135.
