You have permission to edit this article.CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW)- After being canceled in 2020, plans are full speed ahead for the 2021 Northern Wisconsin State Fair, and officials are moving forward with hiring staff for the event.Applications recently opened for paid staff and volunteers for a number of positions at the fair. Officials are also looking to hire nonprofits to work jobs and earn money for their organizations.The fair's director said they plan to hire more staff than usual this year to take care of extra pandemic-related tasks like sanitization and monitoring social distancing."Last year there were a number of fairs that were held around the United States, and some of the best practices they utilized so participants and fairgoers felt safe," said Rusty Volk, executive director of the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. "For that, you need more hands on deck."Volk said more sanitizing stations and glass dividers will be in place around the fair, and other protocols like capacity restrictions and mask requirements have yet to be determined. Volk also encourages all fairgoers to be vaccinated for COVID-19 before the event if possible.The fair is currently scheduled to run July 7-11.
