Science Misrepresented
July 9, 2019
There is no consensus science saying that climate change is CURRENTLY "devastating" Central America. The article severely misrepresents the science ("Climate change is devastating Central America, driving migrants to the U.S. border").
The article says climate change COULD be a problem for Central America in the future, but has no scientific evidence to support that it actually IS a problem currently. The support for the Syrian drought connection is shaky, and the article says, "Researchers argue". Scientists argue about a lot of things. Their arguments are not science until they are peer-reviewed, published and accepted by a consensus of scientists and NOT argued about anymore.

Credible

While the information presented is credible, the headline insinuates a stronger connection than is mentioned within the article. The body of the article recognizes the additional factors that are causing this region to flee, but focuses mostly illicting the state of being from a small town as representative to the larger region. There were a few more sources I would've liked to see link for additional reading (like rain percentages on a map would've been nice) and is mostly why this article lost a few stars.

Political Agenda
July 9, 2019
The article takes information like violence, poverty, and crime problems, which are true reasons for fleeing, and tries to spin this as coinciding with climate change. There is no evidence climate change is even a factor.
Droughts, monsoons, el nino and la nina weather patterns have been enigmatic for hundreds of years. Unless you have scientific data showing this is a cause for illegal immigration, do not present sensationalist headlines pushing political agendas. There was no weather pattern data presented, and the only evidence points to increased violence and poverty.
Stick to the facts please.

The denial of climate disruption in the U.S. speaks directly to the need for Credder. I was alarmed by the extent of the environmental destruction and how Honduras is at a focal spot for the most dramatic future devastation. A must see video is included and I am quite surprised that a major news outlet would finally acknowledge climate disruption in a in-depth investigation that challenges our current social norms.

Article has sources (including US govt analyses) that provide evidence for claims of climate change's part in the current droughts and migration. It could have done a better job of making this relationship clear.
