Sources said he was arrested on a weapons charge.Federal authorities have been clamping down on alleged extremists in advance of the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.AdvertisementOne of the photos taken by a neighbor shows a blurry image of Florea, dressed in a blue shirt and tan slacks, with his hands raised in the middle of 76th St. A second photo shows the armored vehicle used in the take down, with an armed FBI agent emerging from the top.Federal agents and police flooded the neighborhood and corralled Florea outside the well-kept two-story brick home where he lives in a basement apartment.A 35-year-old neighbor who gave her name just as Jackelyn described the scene as “something out of a movie.”She said she had to be escorted by the FBI to her home when she returned home from work about 5 p.m.“I just had surgery recently so I was in crutches,” she said. “The FBI had to escort me from the end of the block to my house.”“It was nuts. A tank was going down the street. I couldn’t believe it, especially in a quiet neighborhood like this,” she added.Wanda, another neighbor, saw Florea surrender. He walked out of his home with a woman and two children soon trailing after him. “That shocked the heck out of me,” she said. “I came outside out of the basement (to see what was going on). An FBI guy yelled at me to get inside.”AdvertisementFlorea turned to face the house, she said, and walked backwards with his hands raised. “He stopped mid-street. They got him,” Wanda said. “Not much later, a woman went out with two little kids. I actually feel sorry for the kids. They looked scared to death.”Jackelyn said law enforcement seized a series of bags and Florea’s laptop.“He was a quiet guy,” she said. “Didn’t socialize much, always stayed to himself.”Added Wanda, “He’s quiet as a church mouse. You would see him pick up the garbage. You see him pick up groceries, but that’s about it. You always got a hello and a goodbye.”Jackelyn also said he was “a big tech guy” who worked on computers. Records show Florea created a company called Telsec in 1999, but dissolved it in 2003. One of his posts appears to relate to a supposed attempt by Muslims to create a Sharia court in the U.S.WeekdaysCatch up on the day’s top five stories every weekday afternoon. &gt; Cops were called to Florea’s then-home on Staten Island in 2014 after his wife alleged that he strangled her. Florea choked her over a dispute over a cup of water while she was sitting on their bed with their child on her lap. She fell unconscious, the newspaper reported.When she came to, he was standing over her with a knife in his hand. “I will f---ing kill you both,” he said, according to the now-sealed complaint quoted in the Advance. “First (the child) and then you.”On June 14, about a month later, police saw Florea, his mom Ioana Florea and her boyfriend Jay Martin appearing to transfer gun cases from the home to a car. When they were done, there were a dozen firearms in the car.Cops stopped their car and seized the weapons and a later search found nearly 400 rounds of ammunition in the attic and in a safe. Twenty rounds were found on top of a computer server. Florea ultimately pleaded guilty and served one year in jail.Florea has a history of making online threats to kill people in the past, a law enforcement source said.
