He's the voting rights field director for Civic Nebraska, a bipartisan organization based in Lincoln.The group is rallying against LR-292CA, which would put an amendment to the Nebraska Constitution on the 2020 ballot.If voters approve it, it will become law. The amendment would require a worker at the polls to review a picture of each voter to verify their identity. "A lot of times, if you don't have an ID, you don't have the other papers you need to go get it," said Christian-Sallis, "You have to go to an office and pay money to get the documentation you need to go get an ID."Civic Nebraska says voter ID laws haven't been shown as effective against voter fraud and would only hurt rural and low-income voters. Iowa passed a voter ID law that went into effect last year.Right now in Nebraska, falsely impersonating someone at the polls is a felony that carries a maximum of two years' imprisonment, a $10,000 fine or both. Sen.
