The members spent months assembling recommendations for how to boost cultural competency in the affluent district that’s becoming more diverse but is still overwhelmingly white.Some parents have objected to several aspects of the broad range of proposals, which include a diversity and inclusion curriculum, teacher and staff training, an LGBTQ-plus student focus group and tracking “microaggressions” by students.At a board meeting in September, one parent said the CCAP’s intent was to “propose a leftist worldview,” while other parents have accused the district of proposing to form the “diversity police.”With new superintendent , the coalition is pushing for continued discussion of the plan.
