Great Context

"...the concept of a “Just the facts” newscast designed to be consumed by everyone died out." Matt Taibbi explains it all. 😊 On a more serious note. Yes, his observation is quite astute. Especially, with regard to the aforementioned quote. As someone who has been in the media business, so to speak, for thirty years, give or take, and a news consumer, if you will, for forty plus years, news is not news anymore. News is entertainment. It is designed, first and foremost, to attract and appease advertisers, who can hawk their wares to, concomitantly, the required audience. Secondly, the supposed "journalists" of today are less reporters (a far more accurate description of what their job is supposed to entail) than celebrities themselves. They are part and parcel of the societal strata they are supposed to be holding accountable. No better example of this incestuous relationship exists than the White House Correspondents' Association gala dinner every year. Where the media yuck it up and back slap with each other and the political class. Here is the ultimate reference point of the big club which the public does not belong to. While all this may sound like editorializing, it is not intended to be. These are facts. And Mr. Taibbi elucidated the matter in a manner far superior to what I can muster. All things considered, this is a must read piece. Read it twice, three times, or more. Pass it on to everyone you know. This is the most accurate description of the current state of journalism to date. Five stars!

Investigative

As always Matt Taibbi hits the nail on the head with his latest assessment of the shit show we all witnessed in Washington last week. Has anyone else picked up on what he is asking for in order to restore the role of the press is precisely a company like Credder that stresses credibility over ratings.

Matt Taibii has a very good point. We need to return to news that tries to be somewhat objective while trying to explain both sides of an issue. We can't let media purposely create idiotic division for profit. But he is still a leftie who wants to imagine the right are all extreme and wrong. He also doesn't understand that a large part of the right are quite corporation critical.

It's an opinion piece that brings a lot of the broken pieces of the present media channels. Beautifully written, but I personally believe he's presenting a utopic suggestion of a new media channel where those financial pressures to maintain an audience are absent AND has credibility with the whole population. Some solutions as Substack and Credder will help to change this game in general, but I understand suggesting a completely interest-free channel that reaches all people is kind of naive.

Pure Opinion

This is clearly Matt Taibbi's opinion on the current state of media, but in his piece, he explains why making your position clear to readers is in a way more trustworthy than hiding it inside of an "objective" take. This piece will make you think and sheds some necessary light on the broken system that underlies all of the political and real-world chaos we've been experiencing over the last few years. It's worth reading, even if you disagree with all of it.
