This feels like honest questioning into why news is consumed less in the modern era.

Great article that gives insight into why people are reading news less. It provided several additional links to articles or studies on how the way current news is written could be effecting readership. I wonder if this correlates with the reduction of local news as well.

This was a very well put together, albeit a non-representative sample size, article outlining some of the qualitative and quantitative reasons people decide to avoid the news today. Benton does a great job contextualizing the feedback and ends the piece asking the right questions about how the news industry can move forward.

There are two types of trust. One type is where you just don't feel 100% convinced the other person is committed to being honest. The other type of trust, and the one affecting peoples attitude towards the news is way more pertinent. The other type of trust is when you soberly and fairly come to a situational awareness while in pursuit of the truth and you realize that it's not that you don't trust the main stream media; you absolutely know they are not TO BE trusted. Those are two different things - "I don't trust the news" and "I see what going on and the main stream media has no credibility to be judged as to their trustworthiness - they are not to BE trusted". So the despair comes from constantly being reminded you have no attachments to some of the tools (the news) that keeps us on the pursuit of the truth. People feel good perusing the truth. It's a noble cause. Yet they can't stand the news, because they feel insulted.
