(WLFI)-The Tippecanoe County Democratic Headquarters is now riddled with bullet holes.&nbsp;The Lafayette Police department says there were around 6 bullets found at the scene.&nbsp;&nbsp;Heather Maddox is the&nbsp;Chair Woman for the Tippecanoe County Democratic Party&nbsp;and has been involved with politics for around 20 years. She says she never thought the violence that happened in Washington D.C. would come to our community."You always get the random weird message that just happens at any party headquarters, but I never thought about anything like this," added Maddox.&nbsp;The Indiana Democratic Party sent out a statement in response to the events that transpired in Lafayette, it says the following."The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today issued the following statement after the Tippecanoe County Democratic Party experienced a shooting incident at its headquarters:"It's not a coincidence to have a Democratic Party office experience a shooting not even a day after a domestic terrorist attack at the U.S. Capitol. The act of violence against the Tippecanoe County Democratic Party headquarters is alarming and continues the dangerous escalation of violence against political organizations and American democracy itself. However, I fear that this act of violence will not be a one-time incident. I implore all local and state leaders to come together and condemn this violence now so we can prevent further violence from happening across Indiana - and we will carry and fight on as Democrats."&nbsp;Local state representative Chris Campbell also released a statement condemning the violence. She said the following to say.&nbsp;"Tippecanoe County has been my home for the last three decades," Campbell said. "I attended college at Purdue University. I was married here. I raised a family here. I was a coach for both of my children's soccer teams. I have represented this district and its interests in the halls of the Indiana General Assembly."Tonight's Tippecanoe County is unrecognizable. I am heartbroken. The attack on the U.S. Capitol and the Tippecanoe County Democratic Party headquarters is an attack on democracy itself. This type of political violence demonstrated across the nation was fueled by inflammatory rhetoric that must come to an end."This division needs to stop immediately. We need to get back to a place of civility. It is time for We The People to come together to rebuild a healthy democratic society that we can be proud of. State and local leaders must condemn all acts of political violence, and I hope my colleagues join me in my condemnation of today's events."Lafayette police are still investigating what happened.
