Cincinnati EnquirerView CommentsA small plane was forced to land on Interstate 75 Thursday closing the highway for more than six hours, while crews worked to remove the aircraft.Police said the pilot, 61-year-old John Bennett of Indianapolis, "landed safely," hitting&nbsp;no other vehicles but coming to rest against a concrete barrier. Bennett was unharmed.Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said the&nbsp;single-engine 1996 Beechcraft Bonanza made its emergency landing en route to Lunken Airport. She said&nbsp;Bennett reported a loss of engine power.Lt. Steve Saunders said&nbsp;Bennett, the only occupant of the plane, stayed on the scene to assist in the investigation.“Thankfully, he was able to land the plane safely," Saunders said.&nbsp;"It’s somewhat of a miracle."Saunders said the Federal Aviation Administration is headed to the scene to assist with the investigation. The expressway will likely be closed most of Thursday afternoon.Police said there was some warning that the plane may have been experiencing problems. It was being tracked by radar when it went down. Officials have not said if Bennettwas able to radio for help.Cincinnati police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will investigate the traffic portion of the incident, while the FAA will work to determine the cause of the crash.View Comments
