Andy Harris, is among those who will challenge the certification of the election of Joe Biden as president."I will very likely object to several of the states where I think the outcome is probably in doubt because inadequate investigation has been allowed to occur," Harris said. "I am surprised that judges in these various jurisdictions haven't allowed investigations to go forward or ordered that investigations go forward."Harris told 11 News there are as many as six states where election results are questionable and the count deserves a full independent investigation."If there is no wrongdoing, there is nothing to hide, let's go ahead, you know, throw open the windows, open the doors, let's see all the materials," Harris said.Harris said he plans to co-sponsor objections raised in the six states in order to spur a debate on what still needs to be investigated."We are going to lay out the case in front of the American people for why investigations should occur," Harris said. "I think our side will lay out why more investigation should be done and, look, I'd love to hear from the other side why the investigation shouldn't be done."Harris charges that more than 10,000 registered voters moved out of Nevada and yet cast a ballot as if they still lived there."I am probably going to speak on the fraud that occurred in Nevada, where you have thousands of voters who voted -- and remember, the election in Nevada is very specific, you have to have a residence. There were 8,000 individuals who voted who had no residence," Harris said.Harris disagreed with Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's characterization that rejection of the certification is a "scheme" and "mockery of the system." In a statement released Sunday, Hogan said, in part: "Whether or not you like the result, the process worked as it always has."Harris said he is surprised by the comment, pointing to the 1994 contest for governor between Parris Glendening and Ellen Sauerbrey as an example."I clearly disagree with him," Harris said. "I'm not sure, especially being governor of a state where there is widespread belief that a gubernatorial election now 26 years ago, in fact, was a stolen election."Harris also defended President Donald Trump's phone call with Georgia's secretary of state asking him to find more than 11,000 votes in his favor."The president was asking that efforts be made to see if there were Trump ballots, to find these Trump ballots that may have been either shredded, discarded or eliminated in some way, which, of course, would be an obvious violation of federal law," Harris said.U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, told CNN in an interview that the phone call between has the elements of a criminal act."You have the president trying to illegally change the results of the election by essentially threatening the secretary of state and others here. So I certainly think it merits a good look. Whether or not people decide to actually prosecute at some point, that's a separate issue," Van Hollen said.Almost 200 business leaders across the nation are urging Congress to certify the election results for Biden. In a letter, the business leaders cite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as a reason to certify the results. Among the businesses to sign the letter is WBAL-TV's parent company, Hearst.Maryland's sole Republican in Congress, Rep.
