He is in stable condition and is self isolating at home, the health district said. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are still working to&nbsp;confirm the case.&nbsp;Live updates:In a statement, the health district said the man has a family member who is a student at Huffaker Elementary School in Reno."Out of an abundance of caution, the Health District requested that Huffaker Elementary School be closed on Friday, March 6," according to the statement said.&nbsp;"The Washoe County School District has informed parents of the closure."Washoe County Commissioner Marsha Berkbigler first confirmed the Washoe coronavirus case to the Reno Gazette Journal earlier Thursday evening.&nbsp;"The upside for us is this one person confirmed is not a community exposure," Berkbigler said. "He was clearly on the cruise ship."The Washoe County Health District is planning a press conference at 11 a.m. Friday&nbsp;to address the matter.&nbsp;On Thursday evening,&nbsp;the Washoe County School District sent a note to parents saying it would close the elementary school on Friday because several children were experiencing flu-like symptoms.&nbsp;"Under the direction of — and out of an abundance of caution — the Washoe County Health District has informed us that as a result of an increased number of students at Huffaker Elementary School with influenza-type symptoms, the school will be closed tomorrow, Friday, March 6." The notice continued: "We are working with the Health District to gather more information and guidance and will communicate with our Huffaker families and staff as soon as we have more information. I repeat — as a result of an increased number of students at Huffaker Elementary School with influenza type symptoms, the school will be closed tomorrow, Friday, March 6."In an interview with the Reno Gazette Journal about the closure at Huffaker, WCSD spokeswoman Irene Payne said, "We've been informed by the Washoe County&nbsp;Health Department that it's&nbsp;because of an uptick in influenza-type symptoms."Earlier Thursday evening, Katie Silva, who is on the Huffaker Elementary School parent-teacher association, said&nbsp;she spoke with the president of the PTA at Huffaker and she was also not aware of any link to the coronavirus."We have not received any additional information from the school except that it will be closed out of an abundance of caution for children exhibiting symptoms of influenza,"&nbsp; Silva said.Berkbigler said Washoe County is "very well prepared."Coronavirus case in Nevada:This is a breaking news story and will be updated.&nbsp;View Comments
