(KGTV) -- A man accused in a shooting at a Lemon Grove home that killed 15-year-old twin girls was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after a neighborhood search.San Diego County sheriff's officials said deputies were called to a home in the 7400 block of Central Avenue, near Massachusetts Avenue, just before 12 p.m. for what was described as a shooting and suspect seen fleeing the area.Deputies arrived at the residence and found two females dead inside. A male with non life-threatening injuries was also found inside and taken to a nearby hospital.A woman at the scene said her twin 15-year-old daughters were shot and killed."My twin daughters that are 15 are dead in the house," she said. "I grabbed the little kids and ran out the back because I know I couldn’t do anything for my daughters."As deputies searched the neighborhood, residents in the immediate area were told to stay indoors, lock their doors, and call deputies if they noticed anything suspicious.Deputies say the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Dwayne Edward Groves Jr., had a former relationship with a female who lived at the home. The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody around 2:30 p.m.“Today he said he figured it all out. He knows what he needs to do and he showed up at the house and shot out my back window," the victims' mother said. "My 15-year-old daughter tried to close the door on him and he kicked the door open and shot her and then he went after my other three kids.”Sheriff's officials Thursday confirmed the deaths of two 15-year-old sisters but did not release their names.Sheriff's officials said Groves was booked into San Diego Central Jail on two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.Deputies blocked off the area around 7400 Central Ave., but lanes were reopened to traffic Thursday morning.Copyright 2020 Scripps Media, Inc.
