Tier four would open up the possibility of: Limiting hospitals to only emergency or urgent procedures;Canceling elective surgeries regional or statewide;Possibly putting in place what are called “crisis standards of care,” which are used when hospitals are so overwhelmed, they simply can’t keep up with their usual care.Dr. David Kendrick, the CEO of MyHealth Access and a professor at the University of Oklahoma, said he’s hearing growing concern from colleagues.“They’re doing what they can. They’re opening … they’re converting units to COVID units.
