The ads started flowing in to local TV stations just after the New Hampshire Democratic primary. The Nevada caucuses promise to be a better cross section of America, with unions, minorities, and a working class.What percentage of a campaign's budget goes to advertising?“Campaigns have had a number of people in this state for a long time,” says Fred Lokken, political science professor at Truckee Meadows Community College. “And when you start to factor that up especially down in Clark County, you would be surprised. You'd probably have a payroll that comes close to what they are doing for advertising.”The ads will continue on air until the end of next week. But so far among seven candidates, approximately $1.5 million dollars has been spent at three major network station since January.“Well I think we are a more affordable state because we are a caucus state,” says Lokken.Tom Steyer has spent the most money at nearly $570,000. That is just since January. ”In Nevada? Is that right?” Steyer said when asked about the Nevada budget. “Well let me put it to you this way, we also have a fantastic team on the ground.”Amy Klobuchar has spent the least at nearly $57,000. Biden at nearly $150,000. Buttigieg: $193,000. Sanders: $345,000. Warren nearly $189,000. And Michael Bloomberg about $28,000 -- that's despite the fact he is not on the caucus ballot. There is speculation he is buying time here to reach the California market on Super Tuesday--at a lower cost.Early voting starts Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.
