Illogical

This article seems to make two opposing arguments. 1) Screens can be a great way to make people feel connection 2) the rich are running away from screens while the poor are being increasingly forced to use them. I know the story at that sandwiches this article is meant to show that people can form a dependency on tech, but it does so in a way that does not seem to demonize technology in the same way the rest of the article does.
The other think that I don't like about this article is it is describing a really common phenomenon and portraying it as something crazy and sneaky. I do think it's wrong that the poor are becoming increasingly dependent on screens and I do believe that is happening, but that same trend happened with high fat high sugar foods, TVs, recorded music. They are luxurious and sought after when they are limited and then demonized by the wealthy once they become common place. The reality is they are neither good nor bad. They are neutral and their effects are highly dependent on context.

The article does a nice job presenting the change of thinking amongst tech elites and their turning away from screen-time for their own children. However, this is an imperfect article for some of the reasons reviewer Valentina G. stated.

This essay excellently describes the ironic situation where the rich and tech elites are moving away from screens for themselves and even more for their children.
