She also declined to provide additional details about the incident or in what ways the incident violated the university’s coronavirus rules.AdvertisementCiting student privacy concerns, Rubenstein also declined to comment on whether any individual students had been suspended or expelled as part of the incident.Wesleyan’s require students to socially distance and wear face coverings when socializing with people who aren’t their housemates, to cap gatherings at a maximum of 25 people and to notify the university if they travel more than 25 miles away from campus. (There are some discrepancies between the most recently updated coronavirus rules and the university’s “COVID agreement for students.” For instance, the agreement caps gatherings at 10 people, not 25.)AdvertisementStudents are also required to follow the university’s contact tracing and testing rules — including taking a COVID-19 test each week — and to follow any specific directives given by the university’s public health personnel.If students don’t follow those rules, they will be asked to leave campus, according to Wesleyan’s code of conduct.Since welcoming students back to campus this fall, Wesleyan has had a relatively low number of coronavirus cases.
