THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE SAYS THERE WAS AN EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE BETWEEN THE TROOPER AND THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE. THE RESPONDING OFFICERS FOUND THE MALE DECEASED OF A GUNSHOT WOUND AND ARMED WITH AN RIFLE AND HANDGUN. THE TROOPER WAS FOUND ALIVE AND TRANSPORTED TO HANCOCK MEDICAL CENTER. NO ONE WAS INJURED -- NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED AND THERE IS NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC. HERE IS THE OFFICE WITH MORE ON THE TROOPER. &gt;&gt; A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS CONDITION. A state trooper was shot and transported to a hospital where he is currently in stable condition.According to the Attorney General's office, the incident began after the trooper stopped a car on Bridge Hill Road in Dalton at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Investigators say shortly after the stop, the trooper and man inside the stopped car exchanged gun fire. Responding officers found the driver of the car dead at the scene. He was reportedly armed with a rifle and a handgun. Gov. Chris Sununu released a statement regarding the situation that read, "New Hampshire is praying for our State Trooper injured in the line of duty. I have made all state resources available to assist in this critical investigation."According to the AG's office, no one else was physically hurt during the incident. The trooper did not have a police body camera or cruiser camera. "A lot of people are concerned about his condition, he is hospitalized and being treated for his gunshot wounds and the last update we had is that he is in stable condition," Associate Attorney General Jeffery Streizin said.
