A lot less people are out now, which kind of sucks, but I guess it's for the benefit of everybody,” Wickiser said.Retailers have to cap their indoor capacity at 50%. Restaurants and bars at 25%. On the first night, the Annapolis Office of Emergency Management were out patrolling with the help of Maryland State Police."Primarily, doing education to businesses, explaining to owners how they can keep their staff safe, how to keep patrons safe,” said Kate Seborowski, of the Annapolis of Emergency and Management.Since state troopers were deployed last week Wednesday to do coronavirus compliance checks statewide, more than 1,500 businesses have been inspected and about 1,600 COVID-related complaints were received."For us, we're really looking at the not-wearing-a-mask, operating past 10 p.m., over maximum capacity,” Seborowski said."We want to get compliance by whatever means possible. It's not about trying to issue fines or arrest people for not wearing a mask. What can we do to try to get that person safe and everybody else safe?" said Sgt.
