During the day, the focus was on retail, and at night, it shifted to bars and restaurants.While the highly visible patrols checked on more than 700 businesses across the state, police made no arrests and issued six notices."A majority of people and businesses still continue to work very hard to comply with the orders, and even people who we do contact that are not in full compliance with the orders are very willing to adjust their business practices to get into compliance," Maryland State Police Sgt. The Baltimore City Health Department confirmed The New Tea Spot is closed after being cited for lack of face-masking and social distancing. The restaurant must now correct the violations, submit a compliance plan of action and pass reinspection."We were there to educate and work with them," Nelson said. "Now, if they don't comply after we work with them, that's when you are going to see a lot of firm action come with a loss of licenses, with local authorities or potentially criminal charges for violating the governor's order."The governor's latest executive order requires bars and restaurants be limited to 50% capacity, and they must close by 10 p.m., although carryout may remain open. In Baltimore City, bars and restaurants can only operate at 25% capacity.From Wednesday to Monday, state police received more than 1,200 calls and emails from the statewide COVID-19 prevention hotline.
