Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid apologised to viewers, for not being able to finish the heartbreaking story of one motherVideo UnavailableSusanna Reid was overcome with emotion on Good Morning Britain on Monday, after receiving a heartbreaking message from a viewer. The GMB host was unable to continue, apologising before falling silent as she choked up. She was reading a message from one mother, who revealed she hadn't been able to see her 26-year-old son who has autism - with him not allowed to return home from his care home due to the pandemic. As Susanna began to read the message, she sympathised with the mother before fighting back tears. She began: "Suzanne on says, 'My son is severely autistic and lives in a care home."'He's distraught he can't see me... or.. or come home to visit', sorry." Suddenly her voice broke, and she was unable to continue. Dr Hilary Jones cut in to support Susanna and carried on talking, to give her a moment to compose herself. She quickly explained the story and why it had touched her so much, with co-host Piers Morgan also offering his support. Susanna said later on: "I'm so sorry I was affected, but your stories coming in on the people you can't see in care homes..." Piers had said: "This boy, and I can quite understand why Susanna got upset, he's 26."The presenters were discussing calls from relatives of those in care homes, including the elderly, to be allowed in to see them. Many residents have not been able to see loved ones for months amid the pandemic, and they're hoping for more rapid-result Covid testing to become available. This could prove whether the resident or visitor had the virus, with them hoping it would mean they could visit and care for their family members.
