And by extension, they believe they should be free to decide whether to put one on.Others don’t agree with the science behind it.“When they say we have to slow down the spread they mean we have to prolong the spread, and I don’t think that’s good,”&nbsp;Maggie Goff, a meeting attendee said.Faith also plays a large role in people’s thinking here. Many are choosing to put their health in God’s hands.“I’m here for the people who have faith," McSherry said. "I believe in Jesus Christ. And I do think that whenever he does decide to take us home it may be cancer, it may be COVID.”“I don’t want to wear a medical device on my face," Goff said. "And for me, God told me not to wear a mask so I can’t.”After several hours of testimony, the council opted to table the mask mandate discussion indefinitely in a six to one vote.
