Loading...MarketplaceNewSub-sections:KSL TVLoading...OGDEN — Police shot and injured an 18-year-old man Tuesday night when he advanced toward officers after he threatened to kill himself in front of a social worker, Ogden Police Chief Randy Watt said at a news conference.A case worker with the Utah Department of Human Services called dispatchers about 7:06 p.m., reporting the armed 18-year-old was threatening to end his life.The man was inside a home in the 800 block of 5th Street in Ogden, Watt said.Before officers arrived at 7:17 p.m., the social worker called dispatchers again to report the man was now fighting with two others inside in the home.As part of standard practice, officers established a perimeter around the home after arriving.While officers worked the scene, the two individuals left the home and told officers more about the situation.Shortly after, the 18-year-old left through the back of the home holding a gun in one hand and a butcher knife in the other as he advanced toward officers, Watt said.An Ogden officer yelled at the man to stop, and when he didn't, the officer shot the man in the abdomen, the chief said.
