I really appreciate the caveats this article employs in reporting on this issue — whereas most media outlets consistently report intelligence agency assertions as fact, this article carefully notes that a) the voter files in question are commercially available (not requiring a “hack”), b) whereas Iran sent some Proud Boy emails, Russia hasn’t actually done anything (and I’m still confused why they’re even included in this intel report given they’re not even alleged to have done anything with the voter files they supposedly have in their possession), and c) that there is no actual evidence to support any of this. We will never have truly unbiased reporting in the US unless we treat our own govt assertions with the same skepticism & burden of proof that we apply to foreign nations. That starts with the article headline itself, which this article rightly leads with “US Intelligence accuses...” as opposed to what other outlets are doing, which is simply report “Russia & Iran interfered” as if any govt intel agency assertion is an unimpeachable fact.
