Prognosticators and pollsters are working overtime to gain insight into the mindset of voters in Pennsylvania, which is generally considered to be a key state in the Presidential race.One gauge of voter enthusiasm is party affiliation. The three maps below show, first, current party affiliation by county. The deeper red or blue a county is shaded, the more lopsided party affiliation is in that county.The second map shows how party allegiance has changed proportionately since the 2019 General Election. The 60 out of 67 counties where Republicans have a larger percent change in their ranks are shaded red.The final map shows changes in voter registration since the 2016 General Election.A year ago the Democrats held about 9.5% registration lead with more than 4 million registrants compared to 3.2 million Republicans. The Democratic lead as of October 19 is down to 7.8%, with over 4.2 million Democrats and about 3.5 million Republicans among the state’s 9 million registered voters.The last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania, or change your registration, was Monday, Oct. 19.
