This is why, for instance, you are able to hear an approaching train much earlier by listening to the sounds passing down the rail track.By using standard models of physics along with state of the art mechanical calculations, the researchers showed that sound waves can move the fastest in solid atomic hydrogen.This state of the gas is only found at very high pressures — those above 1 million atmospheres — comparable to those found in the core of gas giants like Jupiter.In such conditions, hydrogen becomes a metal with unusual properties — conducting electricity just like copper.
