GEORGE — A Pennsylvania man who was caught with 86 pounds of meth during a traffic stop last year pleaded guilty to multiple charges in federal court Thursday morning.Channing L. Allen, 36, pleaded guilty in St. George’s federal court to one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Utah.Allen, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was pulled over after committing traffic violations while driving in Iron County last October, according to the release. He did not have current registration for the vehicle.According to an Iron County Jail report filed at the time, the Utah Highway Patrol trooper who stopped Allen’s vehicle could smell marijuana. Drug paraphernalia typically used for cocaine was also discovered.The trooper searched Allen’s vehicle and found after-market compartments that contained 47 packages of meth, according to the news release. Allen was also in possession of a Glock 27 handgun.Allen will be sentenced Dec. 17.
