Kudos to Mr Ellis and Mr Kirkos of CNN for writing what was surely a very difficult article. Police, court, and attorney quotes, as well as family quotes helped balance the report. The facts of the case were nicely laid out and easy to follow with no noticeable bias. This is a very well written report.

The article does little to link other sources. It also doesn't do a good enough job of setting the context for the ruling. I particularly wish it had done more research into the officer's work history as well as the police department's track record.
