NewsThe Philadelphia Flyers announced they have appointed as Player Development Coach in the team's hockey operation department, according to President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Chuck Fletcher."The Flyers are excited to have join our team in a hockey operations role after an excellent career in the NHL," said Fletcher. "I've known Chris for a long time and have admired the way he plays the game, but also how he conducts himself off the ice as a true professional and leader in the locker room. He will be a valuable asset to help mentor our young players and shape their future as Flyers."&nbsp;"I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter," said Stewart. "The Flyers are a first class organization with a lot of people I am eager to learn from. I intend to use my unique experience over my 13-year professional career to help younger players achieve their ultimate goal."&nbsp;Stewart joins the front office of the Flyers after completing an 11-year career in the NHL, most recently appearing in 16 games for the Flyers in 2019-20.&nbsp;Stewart is one of the founding members of the Hockey Diversity Alliance which formed on June 8, 2020 and whose goal is to eradicate systemic racism and intolerance in hockey at all levels and all ages to inspire a new and diverse generation of hockey players and fans.&nbsp;A native of Toronto, Ontario, Stewart compiled 160 goals and 162 assists for 322 points in 668 regular season games for the Colorado Avalanche (2008-09 - 2010-11), St. Louis Blues (2010-11 - 2013-14), Buffalo Sabres (2013-14 - 2014-15), Minnesota Wild (2014-15, 2016-17 - 2017-18), Anaheim Ducks (2015-16) and Calgary Flames (2017-18) and the Flyers (2019-20).&nbsp;He has also appeared in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games where he has posted 11 points (6g-5a).&nbsp;Stewart was acquired by Fletcher as GM on three separate occasions. He traded for Stewart on March 2, 2015 at the deadline with the Wild, and again signed him as a Free Agent on July 1, 2016 to join Minnesota for the 2016-17 season. Fletcher then signed Stewart to a Pro Try-Out in July of 2019 to join the Flyers at training camp and later signed him to a one-year contract on Oct. 15, 2019.&nbsp;Stewart joins Brett Hextall, John Riley, Kjell Samuelsson and Nick Schultz as members of the Flyers Player Development coaching staff.View Less
