In all, 6.5% of Maine is under an extreme drought.The next level is called exceptional drought and those conditions have never been recorded in Maine by the drought monitor.Severe drought conditions have spread across other parts of the state.According to the drought monitor, more than 70% of the state faces severe drought conditions.
