One time someone set fire to the gas bottles at my home."Pisasale, donning a bathrobe and pyjama pants, resigned from his role at a June 2017 press conference after 13 years in the council which culminated in an 80 per cent share of the mayoral votes in 2016.AdvertisementA month earlier, Pisasale was caught at Melbourne Airport with a suitcase carrying $50,000 in cash. Details of the incident and Crime and Corruption Commission raids of his home emerged after he stepped down.After he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault at the Ipswich District Court on Thursday, a suppression order on the additional pleas were lifted.Pisasale will be sentenced next week on the charges, along with one count each of attempting to pervert justice, perjury and official corruption, and 27 counts of fraud.In 2019, he was found guilty of extortion and sentenced to two years in prison — suspended after one — for posing as a private investigator to extort money from the ex-boyfriend of an escort he had been seeing. An appeal against that conviction was lost.The corruption watchdog had previously investigated allegations against Pisasale in 2014, but he was cleared.Ms Miller has about corruption at the Ipswich council for years."I was a lone voice in Ipswich, I was the Lone Ranger — the others ignored it," she said."It was clear to me that Premier [Annastacia] Palaszczuk and the other ministers chose him."They were prepared to put me to the sword to protect them. And my family suffered horrendously because of that."The Labor Party has a lot to answer for. They chose to turn a blind eye."Approached for comment on Thursday night, Ms Palaszczuk's office pointed to comments made in Parliament in 2017.
