All 1,400 students were dismissed Thursday morning after the school learned about the positive case from the Department of Health and Human Services."They followed all the procedures they told us they would follow," Superintendent Kyle Repucci said. "We enacted our school-based plan and things kind of went like clockwork. We did notify families as soon as we had all the information confirmed."Repucci said the family of the student followed protocols, too. While all grades in the district started back mostly in-person Tuesday, the student who tested positive hadn't been at the high school since Sept. 9, when that student's grade had orientation and the building to themselves. "Even though this is isolated to one single student, one single grade, we just felt like this time, let's just go remote learning because we have the ability to do so," Repucci said. "Where we might've had the remaining students in school, but some people might have felt unsafe doing so."Officials said the switch was made out of an abundance of caution and was something they had planned for."We planned knowing that we're going to have to pop in and pop out," Repucci said.
