Nashville TennesseanApproximately 100 sixth-grade students at Winfree-Bryant Middle School in Lebanon have been shifted to distance learning for the next 14 days because of a positive COVID-19 test.The number of students represents about half the sixth-grade class at Winfree-Bryant, according to Lebanon Special School District Director Scott Benson said.The shift was prompted by a student who tested positive for the virus, Benson said.The district has contacted students and staff who need to be informed, according to the district. The other half of the sixth-grade class at Winfree-Bryant is determined to be safe to return to school."The approximately 100 students will transition with their teachers to the distance learning plan," Benson said. "Teachers are working with those families to ensure a smooth transition."Subscribe:Students designated in an "A"&nbsp;group based on last names attend physical classes on Tuesday and Thursday and connect virtually the other days of the week. Students in the "B" group attend physical classes on Wednesday and Friday and learn virtually the other days of the week."We are very encouraged at the possibilities the hybrid model provides for our teachers and students working in small groups," Benson said.
