One of the darts struck a Reno police officer in the knee – causing him to "unintentionally" fire&nbsp;the gun once at the man’s shoulder, Robinson said in the video.&nbsp;In the video, deputies are repeatedly heard ordering the driver to lie down on the ground just moments before he is shot. However, the man stands up and takes a step toward one of the Reno police officers.By that point, the deputies and officers had encircled the man in the parking lot.“Can you go on your knees, please,” a deputy is heard asking the driver.“No,” the man says.“Let’s talk about things,” the deputy says.“I’m going to run, I’m sorry,” the man responds.Once shot, the driver is seen walking away. He then lays down on the ground and is handcuffed, all while bleeding from a gunshot wound.(Story continues below) The officer who shot him then immediately wraps a strap around the man’s arm to help stop the bleeding.“You’re OK, you’re OK,” a deputy is heard telling the driver. “Medical is here for you, OK. Talk to me, what’s your birthday?”Meanwhile, another Reno police officer asks, “Who was it?”The officer who fired the gun is then heard saying: “I think it was me. I got shot with the Taser and I thought … F***.”The man was then taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released. Investigators with the Sparks Police Department then took him into custody on charges that include reckless driving as well as obstructing and resisting an officer.As part of the Regional Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol, Sparks police&nbsp;took over the investigation into the shooting.Meanwhile, the officer who was shot with the Taser was also taken to a hospital to have the dart removed from his knee, authorities said.Last month, local law enforcement leaders announced their plans to release body camera footage on police shootings within two weeks of an incident.The Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office changed their policies&nbsp;to say investigators would release body camera footage within 14 days of a police shooting.According to the new policy, Reno police investigators would be given 30 days to release the footage on incidents that involve multiple officers and witnesses. Authorities said the extended time will allow the department to thoroughly investigate the incident and then prepare to release the video.The identities of those involved will be redacted to help preserve the integrity of the investigation.The change in policy followed both local and national unrest over the use of force stemming from George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.Robinson previously stated the changes in policy were necessary to maintain trust within the Reno community.The Sparks Police Department also adopted similar changes to the agency’s policy.
