WE ASKED THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WHAT THEY NEEDED AND WE GOT THAT OUT FOR PPE, SETTING UP $100 MILLION FOR A BUSINESS RELIEF PROGRAM THAT WE GOT OUT TO MINORITY OWNED BUSINESSES. WE DID SOME MONEY TO THE 15 MILLION. YOU GUYS MIGHT REMEMBER THE HOPE COMMUNITY PLAN OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS ACROSS THE STATE TO HELP THOSE SCHOOLCHILDREN THAT AREN’T GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. WE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO SET THAT UP. WE WANTED TO SEND IT OUT TO CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES ACROSS THE STATE. THE MONEY HASN’T EVEN GOT OUT THE DOOR YET. SOMETHING NEEDS TO HAPPEN LATER ON. Kevin Stitt said he doesn’t think Oklahoma needs another stimulus package from the federal government. “We’ve told our federal delegation, we’ve told the White House that... we want to make sure this $1.2 billon actually gets on target. We have not even gotten our $1.2 billion that we’ve been allocating in Oklahoma, we haven’t got it out,” Stitt said. “So our message back to the White House is that before we go to the well and do another $2 trillion bailout, let’s make sure, let’s get this money out of the door first.”Bipartisan talks on Capitol Hill are ongoing over a new stimulus package. On Wednesday, top lawmakers said they have agreed to try and reach a deal by the week's end. “That’s something I know those guys are working on. If it happens, great. But I’m not going to count on those dollars until we see them. I want to make sure our $1.2 billion gets out in an appropriate manner. That’s why we set up all the programs that we did. We did $10 million for schools, we asked the Department of Education what they needed. We got that out for PPE. We set up $100 million for the business relief program. We put $20 million to minority-owned businesses. We did $50 million for the HOPE community plan, boys and girls clubs across the state to help with some of those school children who aren’t going back to school.
