REPORTS SHOW SUSPECTED OPIOID OVERDOSES IN ARKANSAS HAVE DOUBLED DURING THE PANDEMIC - AS COMPARED TO THE SAME TIMEFRAME LAST YEAR. IN 2019 DURING THAT TIME PERIOD - IT WAS ADMINISTERED ONLY 65 TIMES. KIRK LANE, THE STATE DRUG DIRECTOR SAYS THEY'VE ALSO SEEN MORE PEOPLE ABUSING PRESCRIPTION DRUGS OR OPIOIDS....BECAUSE THOSE DRUGS ARE EASIER TO GET RIGHT NOW illicit drugs like meth, heroin are harder to get because of the border tightening up. so people are turning prescription opioids, alcohol that are more accessible. and some of are not what they seem to be as fentanyl into them. LANE SAYS THEY KNOW DURING THIS PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS, PEOPLE ARE DEALING WITH DEPRESSION DUE OF ISOLATION, SICKNESS OR FINANCIAL PROBLEMS. AND SOME ARE TURNING TO DRUGS.
