WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (WMTV) - Noah’s Ark Waterpark announced Saturday the park will be closed until further notice after two employees tested positive for COVID-19. This came the same day took effect.Vice President of Water Parks Bill Lentz said since opening this summer, the water park has implemented extensive safety protocols. These include temperature checks for all guests and employees, requiring face masks, increased cleaning and disinfection protocols, promoting social distancing, and limiting attendance.“The first and foremost priority of Noah’s Ark is the health and safety of our Guests and Team Members,” Lentz said.Lentz said the water park will work closely with Sauk County Health Department and other experts at this time. According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Sauk County has 372 positive cases of COVID-19.NBC15 spoke to a couple visiting Wisconsin Dells from Milwaukee who said they have already seen compliance issues with mask.“Inside, in the lobby, I saw, you were lucky if 20 percent of people had masks on, even with signs telling people to wear them,” said Darin Poole.The two had not planned to visit Noah’s Ark or other water parks, but just driving by, they saw things that made them nervous.“Just watching how many people were in line to get onto the waterslides and nobody had a mask on and everybody’s standing like me and Darren, super close,” said Kerry Poole.The couple said they are doing their best to be vigilant and follow the rules.“We’re trying to strike a balance between being safe and still living life and enjoying ourselves,” Kerry said. Darin added, “If you’re not going to exercise some caution, then I’m going to exercise it fully for myself.”As for Noah’s Ark, the park will undergo a thorough cleaning and sanitization Saturday, and will be closed until further notice.
