The Traffic Bureau of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department activated a “DUI Blitz” last night in the Northeast, Downtown, and Bolden Area commands.In the end, two dozen drivers were arrested including one driver who had children in the car.That driver was arrested for alcohol and drugs as well as 5 counts of child endangerment because the children, ages 2 to 12, weren't wearing seat belts.Overall, police made more than 200 vehicle stops and issued 71 citations.Andrew Bennett, public information officer for the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, said earlier this week that the majority of deadly crashes that have happened in 2020 have been caused by impaired drivers or speeding.“We need a sense of community, we need a sense of accountability when we get on the roadways, and when we’re traveling. It’s so imperative that we're in this together because it can be you. As car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death, we need the public's participation to slow down and drive sober," Bennett said.This year, Nevada has seen more than 130 deadly crashes, so far.
