In total, 925 people have died after being diagnosed with the virus statewide.&nbsp;Data shows that over the last day, the deaths were of people who were 31 years of age or older.Almost a third of the deaths since Wednesday were people who were ages 71 through 80, an age range which saw 11 deaths reported in a single day.&nbsp;What the numbers mean:White House&nbsp;call:And while the single-day&nbsp;death toll for COVID-19&nbsp;jumped to its&nbsp;highest-ever level,&nbsp;so did the hospitalization rate.&nbsp;Officials reported that 109 people were hospitalized statewide in the last 24 hours.This jump in hospitalizations&nbsp;affects the weekly rolling average of people being admitted. Tennessee is now averaging 74 new hospitalizations per day, the highest weekly average yet.The average number of coronavirus hospitalizations per day has climbed 23% in the past three days, reaching heights never approached before during the pandemic.Just over 4,000 people have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the pandemic made its way to Tennessee.&nbsp;On Thursday 2,570 new cases were reported, marking the second highest single-day increase in positive cases. Just under 2,000 people were said to have recovered over the last day, with new cases still outweighing recoveries.A report from the White House was published by The Center for Public Integrity, a nonprofit newsroom in Washington, D.C, .&nbsp;Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said Thursday at a news conference that the White House recommendations&nbsp;to curb coronavirus cases were backed by the state and they were "critical and pressing" to follow, such as mask-wearing and staying home when applicable.But despite the recommendation of implementing a mask mandate for "red zone" areas of Tennessee, Gov.
