NEW!CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Ohio Bar Exam will be delayed a month due to the coronavirus pandemic, and testing will be remote,The exam assesses law school graduates on ability to practice in Ohio. The September testing date will be delayed to Oct. 5 and 6. The exam was set to take place in July, but was delayed to September because of COVID-19.“The safety of the exam takers and the staff who administer the exam is our top priority, and that’s why the Court felt compelled to make this change,” Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor said in a news release.The date for new attorneys to be sworn in is still in December. Those who do not want to take the bar in October can reschedule their exam to February 2021 or withdraw with a refund.The Supreme Court approved practice pending admission for recent law graduates in May as coronavirus threatened the July testing date. This allows those graduates to temporarily practice law without passing the bar exam, as long as the person is registered for the exam and meets certain qualifications.If an applicant wants to reschedule the exam for February, they will still be able to temporarily practice law until the first day of the February exam, according to guidelines released by the court.The remote exam will be prepared for Oct. 5 and 6, using questions prepared by the National Conference of Bar Examiners.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
