Generalization
August 4, 2018
Out of the gate, the author goes full 'sensational' and hasty 'generalization' with this line: "Unaccompanied minors and children separated at the border from their families are living in shelters where sexual abusers look after them." The problem with such a claim is that it paints anyone working at the shelters as a sex abuser, no matter how well-intentioned they are.
Author Rebekah Entralgo is clearly trying to sway the reader to her position and seems willing to sacrifice any sense of balanced reporting in order to do so.

Generalization
August 4, 2018
While author Rebekah isn't mistaken in her statement within the first paragraph that "families are living in shelters where sexual abusers look after them," it is a generalization of the issues at hand. The information below the first paragraph is trustworthy and doesnt include inflating words, but the premise Rebekah wants to portray is presented early to affect the view of the reader.
