Graphic12:05 PM, Jul 15, 2020INDIANAPOLIS — Another 10 Hoosiers deaths from COVID-19 and 700 confirmed cases were reported on Wednesday by the Indiana State Health Department.Since the coronavirus pandemic began in March, 2,592 people in Indiana have died from COVID-19 and 53,370 have been diagnosed with the virus.An additional 193 probable COVID-19 deaths have also been reported. ISDH said probable deaths are that a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on X-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record.Deaths are reported based on when data is received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.According to the state health department, Marion County continues to have the most deaths and cases in the state with 699 deaths and 12,267 confirmed cases.Other counties that have seen the largest number of deaths from COVID-19 include Lake County with 252, Allen County with 136, Johnson County with 118, Hendricks County with 102 and Hamilton County with 101.A total of 586,589 people have been tested in Indiana with 9.1% testing positive, according to the state health department.ISDH says 35.5% of ICU beds and 84% of ventilators were available as of Monday.Starting later this week, ISDH will be offering free testing in the following counties: Elkhart, Lake, Warrick, Brown, Henry, Kosciusko, Marshall, Ohio/Switzerland, Perry, Tippecanoe and Wells. In addition, a mobile testing option will be available in Gibson County, with coverage extending to Knox and Sullivan counties. Counties were chosen based on their per capita case, testing and positivity rates, as well as the population of industry and agricultural workers and the current availability of local testing options.Any Hoosier seeking COVID-testing can obtain it through one of the state-sponsored OptumServe sites, regardless of whether they are at high risk or have symptoms. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
