(KNWA/KFTA) — The Tontitown City Council passed a mask ordinance on Thursday, July 7, joining other Northwest Arkansas cities making it mandatory to wear masks in public — However, Tontitown’s ordinance only encourages wearing a mask.TONTITOWN ORDINANCE STATEMENT: The Arkansas Department of Health and CDC released guidance regarding the use of face coverings as a method of decreasing the exposure to COVID-19.&nbsp; Governor Hutchinson has voiced his support and encouragement for the usage of facial coverings to get our state and city back on track to flattening the curve.&nbsp; In an effort to continue to keep our city as safe as possible during these trying times, Tontitown City Council approved an Ordinance encouraging masks to be worn by those who go out in public and could potentially be less than 6 feet away from others.&nbsp; In support of businesses who require mask wearing, Mayor Colvin purchased several cases of face masks and the Tontitown Police Department will be distributing these.&nbsp; Please continue to be safe and let’s all do our part to get past these historically trying times!The ordinance states that the city encourages for masks to be worn by those who go out in public and are fewer than six feet apart from others in the community.“The Arkansas Department of Health and CDC released guidance regarding the use of face coverings as a method of decreasing the exposure to COVID-19,” the city announced in a Facebook post. “Governor Hutchinson has voiced his support and encouragement for the usage of facial coverings to get our state and city back on track to flattening the curve.”Other include Little Rock 6/25, Conway 7/6, Rogers 7/6, Hot Springs 7/7.Mayor Paul Colvin purchased several cases of face masks, the post said, and the Tontitown Police Dept. will distribute them to businesses in town.Thanks for signing up!Watch for us in your inbox.Subscribe NowThanks for signing up!Watch for us in your inbox.Subscribe Now✕× Close Ad
