(WTNH) — The suspects in the alleged beating of a hotel clerk in Mystic are expected to appear in New London Superior Court later this month.On Monday, July 13, 39-year-old Philip Sarner and 27-year-old Emily Orbay of New York were taken into police custody in Brooklyn, N.Y. Later that day, they were extradited from Brooklyn to the Stonington Police Department. They were processed for their charges at around 9:15 p.m. Monday.Sarner was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, and Intimidation Based on Bigotry and Bias. Bond was set to $75,000.Orbay was charged with 2 counts of Assault 3rd Degree and Intimidation Based on Bigotry and Bias. Bond was set to $50,000.At around 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, both Sarner and Orbay were released after posting bond, police said. They were expected to appear in court on July 29. That date has been moved to Sept. 23.“I was literally fighting for my life,” said Crystal Caldwell, who says she was attacked by two guests at the Quality Inn in Mystic on June 26.&nbsp;“You got two people attacking you, you’ll fight for your life.”Caldwell wears dark sunglasses because of light sensitivity she now has from the concussion she says she suffered during the attack while she was working the front desk at the hotel.&nbsp;“My lungs, when he stomped on my back so there’s an issue with deep breaths and the sharp pains,” said Caldwell.She feels some relief with the arrests of 39-year-old Philip Sarner and 27-year-old Emily Orbay, who were on the run for more than three weeks. They were picked up&nbsp;early Monday morning in Brooklyn, New York.“That’s taken my mental to the joyous of joyous,” said Caldwell. “There’s so much power in prayer.”The pair is expected to be arraigned in New York and then extradited back to Connecticut to face charges in the attack.In addition to numerous assault charges, another charge of intimidation based on bigotry and bias was also added to an arrest warrant for these suspects on Friday.“It was definitely a whole issue for the whole attack,” said Caldwell.She says more painful than the physical injuries are the racial slurs inflicted upon her.“It’s hurtful for me for the future for my son.&nbsp;&nbsp;He shouldn’t…&nbsp;I wasn’t raised like that,” said Caldwell. “When we came up we all.. we all just there wasn’t a color.”She feels any progress has now gone backwards. Her attorney hopes she can face her attackers in court.“Being able to look these animals in the eyes and let the court know that these people need to be prosecuted,” said Caldwell’s Attorney John Strafaci.Any procedure now may be virtual.&nbsp;In Stonington on Saturday, supporters were demanding justice for the woman who was just doing her job.RELATED:Caldwell came out to talk about what happened.“I wanna thank you guys,” Caldwell told the protesters. “This is the first time I let out any tears. I’m so sorry that you have to see my tears. I’m so sorry to my family. I’m so sorry you guys had to witness something that changed our lives.
