'Completely emaciated': The tragic, traumatic fate of Tahoe's Safeway Bear

The ‘shack’ a Tahoe bartender rents is listed for almost half a million dollars. Where will he go?

The ‘shack’ a Tahoe bartender rents is listed for almost half a million dollars. Where will he go?

Scott Hanichen, a longtime Tahoe local, rents a one-bedroom in Tahoe City for $700 a month.  It’s small — about 500 square feet with a tiny kitchen, wood-burning stove and a deck that faces the woods and a creek.
