Dignity. Do you have it? Do you express it in everything you do?
Dignity is bearing, conduct, and speech that indicates self-respect. And if you are a Christian woman, you need to cultivate it if you don’t have it. Dignity is not pride in one’s looks or accomplishments. It is also not some society-inspired haughtiness because we’re women.
This is one of perhaps a few posts on this subject, inspired in part by what I’m seeing on commercials/shows regularly, and in part by the Bible.
Has anyone else noticed how many commercials/shows there are with women in athletic bras or half shirts? I’m probably more sensitive than the average person to it, because I’m always assessing the culture around me.
“They” want to convince us that half-naked , buff women are the “empowered” ones. (By the way, I despise that word.) But in God’s economy, dignity includes covering ourselves in a way that invites people to study our eyes, our faces, and learn what kind of women we are, not our bodies, which are a dime a dozen, and fade away.
Regardless of what we are taught, carrying ourselves with enough dignity to downplay our sexuality and highlight our femininity is what is important.
So you have ripped abs and a tight butt? ….so do countless other gym rats. Do you have enough self-respect to keep it hidden for your husband or your future husband? Then I’ll be impressed.
And if you don’t care about any of this, your mind and heart have been warped by society. You should pray to be resensitized to God’s ways.
